Montessori climbing toys are perfect for helping your little ones to reach their full potential! They encourage creativity and discovery, which are essential aspects of Montessori education. Climbing structures allow children to experiment and explore in an open-ended way, just like they would outdoors.
As kids grow older, they naturally want more freedom in their playtime. This can be a great opportunity for them to learn how to be creative thinkers and problem solvers. Thankfully, there are plenty of Montessori climbing toys that can help them do just that!
Climbing toys
There are so many different climbing toys for toddlers on the market these days that it can be difficult to decide which one is the best for your child. However, the good news is that your child will probably be happy with any climbing toy you get for them as long as it is safe.
These toys can help kids to learn new skills and explore their creativity. They can also help improve problem-solving abilities, motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. What’s more, climbing toys are a lot of fun, and kidswill enjoy using them for years to come.
Triangle vs Arch vs Rocker
That being said, it is important to be aware of the key differences between different climbing toys before you make a purchase. Don't know what to choose between Pikler’s triangle, arch or rocker board? Let’s take a deeper look at each of these pieces:
Triangle
Montessori Triangles are designed for children aged between 8 months to 8 years. They are made up of two short ladders fastened tightly together at the top. This makes them especially good for small children, as they are low in height, have many easy gripping places, a small distance between the bars, and are inclined at an angle. Additionally, the triangle does not need to be fastened to the floor or wall. It is easy to carry from room to room or to fold and store away.
Arch
The arch consists of two arch frames with several rungs spanning between them. It is a piece of furniture that is used to support children's motor development and widely used by parents who follow the Montessori parenting method. At our shop you can find arches in three sizes – large, standard and small.
The objective is to gradually provide more and more support for a child's physical and motor development as they evolve over time. Using the arch, a toddler can climb, maintain balance, descend, crawl, and so forth. Step by step, the children add to their physical and mental abilities, putting their body limits to the test. The arch is similar to our Balance Board product.
Rocker
The rocker board is a curved board that can be used in different ways, depending on the age, mobility, and interests of the child. For instance, it can be used as a rocking chair, which allows a child to experience an exhilarating back-and-forth motion in a safe way.
The main purpose of the rocking function is to improve the balance. To do this, the kid should place one foot on either side of the board and lean on each leg one at a time, maintaining balance while swinging side to side. This improves the functioning of the vestibular apparatus, which is responsible for balance. Be sure to watch your toddler during this activity to make sure they do not get hurt by any surrounding obstacles.
